There are many potential advantages of using ultrasound in wet processing of the
textile. Ultrasound, with a frequency above the upper limit of human hearing, has
been widely explored as a means of intensifying various wet processes for textile
processing, including desizing, scouring, bleaching, dyeing, printing and finishing,
as well as nanoprocesses (nanopretreatment, nanodyeing, nanoprinting and
nanofinishing). Ultrasonic energy is used for development of diferent processes in
the textile industry, which are environmentally friendly technologies with saving of
energy, chemicals, water and time, including less generation of wastewater and
solid waste, compared to classical processes. Also, introducing ultrasonic energy
during some treatments of textile significantly improves processes efficiency
without affecting the properties of textile. All this increases the competitiveness of
the textile industry.
In this paper are presented various possibilities of ultrasound application in the
textiles area, especially recent developments in ultrasonic processing of textile. (Informative article)
