Republic of Srpska (entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina) is characterized
by different natural-geographical units. It has natural potentials, which
represent an important segment in the evaluation of political-geographical and
geopolitical position. The subject-matter of research in this paper will be based
on identifying the most important natural potentials of the Republic of Srpska
and their importance in the valorization of geopolitical position seen through
the prism of contemporary political and geographical processes in the Western
Balkans and the international community.
The paper is planned to be realized by general (analysis and synthesis) and
special methods of immanent geographical research and data processing
techniques (statistical, cartographic, GIS analysis), according to the historical-
geographical, structural-functional and dialectical methodological approach.
The results of the research could have diverse theoretical and applicative
value, and the objective of the research would indicate that the geospace of the
Republic of Srpska could become a successful example of a political-territorial
community in which elements of the natural environment would represent a
model and direction of the future concept of geopolitical stability of Bosnia and
Herzegovina, but also the states of the Western Balkans as a whole
